Pintado em 2019 na cidade do Mindelo, na Ilha de São Vicente em Cabo Verde por Alexandre Farto que usa o nome VHILS, que nasceu em Lisboa em 1987, terminou os seus estudos de Arte em 2008, em Londres, tendo iniciado a atividade como artista urbano em 1998, com a pintura de muros e comboios, na margem sul do rio Tejo.

Cesária Évora, a grande diva que cantava mornas e teve o maior reconhecimento internacional,  nasceu no Mindelo, Cabo Verde, a 27 de Agosto de 1941, cidade onde também faleceu a 17 de Dezembro de 2011. A morna, canção de Cabo Verde, foi considerado património da humanidade  pela Unesco em 2019.

This mural was painted in 2019 in the city of Mindelo on the Island of Saint Vicente in Cape Verde, by Alexandre Farto aka VHILS. He was born in Lisbon in 1987, finished his Art studies in London in 2008, having started his activities as an urban artist in 1998, painting the walls and trains on the south bank of the River Tagus 

Cesária Évora, the great diva who sang mornas and was internationally recognized, was born in the port city of Mindelo, Cape Verde, on 27th August 1941. She died in the same city on 17th December 2011. The morna (national music of Cape Verde) was in 2019 recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by Unesco.

Mural de 40 metros de comprimento, no local de ALVALADE na zona poente da Avenida Estados Unidos da América, na cidade de LISBOA, pintado pelo artista português STYLER, que presta homenagem ao arquiteto paisagista GONÇALO RIBEIRO TELLES, (1922-2020). Este arquiteto paisagista tudo fez pelo ambiente, jardins e corredores verdes da capital do país. 

A 40 metre long Mural in the ALVALADE (a suburb of Lisbon), on the west side of The United States Avenue (Avenida Estados Unidos da América), in the city of LISBON, by the Portuguese artist STYLER, who pays tribute to landscape architect GONÇALO RIBEIRO TELLES, (1922-2020). This landscape architect did a lot for the environment, gardens and green corridors of the country's capital.

Na estrada Nacional lO, à saída da povoação de AZEITÃO para a cidade de Setúbal - a cidade do grande poeta BOCAGE -  um mural representando aves daquela zona, próxima da Serra da Arrábida.

O mural seguinte representa a RAPOSA, uma espécie animal que existe na serra próxima - Serra da Arrábida. 

A cidade de SETÚBAL é terra de pescadores, de gastronomia impar e de muita simpatia. Cidade não muito grande, bela e acolhedora.  

As pinturas dos murais são de Ivo Santos, conhecido por Smile, que já deu novas cores a várias zonas da cidade de Setúbal, cidade que capta uma vista extraordinária da Serra da Arrábida e de uma das mais lindas Baías do Mundo, a Baía de Setúbal, de águas calmas e enquadrada pelo estuário do RIO SADO.

On the EN (National Road) 10, just outside the village of Azeitao, on the way to the city of Setúbal - the city of the great poet Bocage - a mural depicts birds from the area.

The next mural represents a fox, a species that exists in the nearby Serra da Arrábida (mountain). 

The city of Setúbal, city of fishermen, of a unique cuisine and friendly people. Not too big a city, but beautiful and welcoming.

The murals were painted by Ivo Santos, best known as Smile, who has brought new colours to the various areas of the city of Setúbal, city that captures an extraordinary view of the Arrábida mountain, and with one of the most beautiful bays in the world - the Bay of Setúbal, with its calm waters framed by the estuary of the Sado River.

Este mural pintado em Junho 2019 cobre as paredes do Mercado Municipal do SEIXAL. Trabalho de grande dimensão, com motivos próprios da história das gentes daquela cidade. Uma execução dos artistas Mosaik e Mar, a partir de um projeto da autoria de Eduardo Palaio, feito para o FESTIVAL DE STREET ART DO SEIXAL 2019, festival denominado "À Babuja".

This mural painted in June 2019 covers the walls of the Seixal Municipal Market.

A large work depicting the history of the people of that city (in the district of Setúbal, across the Tagus River on the other side of Lisbon).

Executed by artists Mosaik and Mar, from a project by Eduardo Palaio, and painted for the Seixal 2019 Street Art Festival, also called "À Babuja".

O Seixal é uma cidade de Portugal não muito longe de Lisboa, havendo diversos meios de transporte para lá chegar.

De carro: Há 2 pontes sobre o Tejo: 

Ponte 25 de Abril -  saída Fogueteiro/Seixal. (ponte inaugurada em 6-8-1966 - tem 2.277 metros. 

Ponte Vasco da Gama - sentido Almada, também saída Fogueteiro Seixal; (ponte inaugurada em 29-3-1998 - tem 12.345 metros. Foi desde a sua inauguração até 2018, a maior ponte da Europa. Em 2018 foi inaugurada uma ponte maior, a da Crimeia, na Rússia.  

Comboio - Lisboa - Estação Fogueteiro (há autocarro para o SEIXAL.

Barco - Lisboa (Cais do Sodré) Terminal Fluvial do Seixal .

O Seixal tem uma Baía. Pode desfrutar-se de momentos ricos em paisagem, numa embarcação à vela que era usada para transporte de carga pelo rio Tejo antes da ponte 25 de Abril existir. Esta foi inaugurada em 1966.  Esta embarcação é propriedade da Câmara Municipal do Seixal.

Seixal is a Portuguese city in the municipality of Setúbal,  on the other side of the Tagus River, with several means of transport to get there.

By car: There are 2 bridges over the Tagus River - 25 April Bridge, exit Fogueteiro/Seixal.

Vasco da Gama Bridge - towards Almeida, exit Fogueteiro/Seixal.

By train: Lisbon - Fogueteiro Station, then a bus to Seixal.

By boat:  Cais do Sodré, Lisbon to Seixal terminal.

Seixal has a bay where you can enjoy the landscape on a sailing vessel formerly used for the transport of cargo on the river before the construction of the 25 April Bridge, which was inaugurated in 1966. This vessel is owned by the Municipality of Seixal.

UM MURAL COM DOM QUIXOTE & SANCHO PANÇA, NA LINDA CIDADE DO PORTO, NORTE DE PORTUGAL 

Pintado no final de 2013 numa altura em que a arte urbana começava a ganhar terreno na cidade. A iniciativa foi coordenada pela Circus Network, galeria, agência criativa e espaço de coworking dedicado à ilustração e arte urbana, e juntou os artistas  Mesk, Fedor e Mots numa lateral dum prédio com 130 metros quadrados na esquina das Ruas Miguel Bombarda & Rua de Diogo Brandão, no Porto. 

Os três artistas imortalizaram as clássicas personagens de Cervantes em tons de castanho e com um toque contemporâneo – basta olhar Rocinante, o cavalo de Dom Quixote, que mais parece saído de um filme de ficção científica.

Painted in 2013, when urban art was beginning to gain ground in the city, this initiative was coordinated by Circus Network - a gallery and co-working space dedicated to illustration and urban art, who brought together artists Mesk, Fedor and Mots, to paint this mural on a 130 square mt wall on the side of a building at the corner of Rua Miguel Bombarda and Rua de Diogo Brandão, Porto.

The three artists immortalized the classic characters of Cervantes in shades of brown with a contemporary touch - just look at Rocinante, Don Quixote's horse who looks like a science fiction character.

O rosto da fadista portuguesa mundialmente conhecida - AMÁLIA RODRIGUES, em Lisboa, no Bairro de Alfama, entre a Rua de São Tomé e a Calçada do Menino de Deus, pintado pelo artista VHILS (Alexandre Farto) em colaboração com os calceteiros da Municipalidade de Lisboa.  A ideia desta pintura foi do actor/realizador luso-francês Ruben Alves, que dirigiu o disco "As Vozes do Fado", tributo à grande artista AMÁLIA.

Amália da Piedade Rodrigues nasceu em Lisboa a 01-07-1920 e faleceu em Lisboa a Lisboa-6-10-1999, e está sepultada no Panteão Nacional, entre outros portugueses ilustres.

Foi fadista, cantora e atriz portuguesa, considerada o expoente máximo do fado, aclamada em todo o mundo que sabe o que é Fado como a voz de Portugal e uma das mais brilhantes cantoras do século XX. 

O mural presta homenagem  à cantora, assim como aos calceteiros que são os verdadeiros artistas da calçada de Lisboa.

The face of the world famous Portuguese fado singer - Amália Rodrigues, sculpted by Portuguese artis VHILS (Alexandre Farto), in collaboration with pavers from Lisbon's Municipality in 2015, and can be found at São Tomé Street in the Alfama District. 

The idea to paint this mural came from the Portuguese-French actor and movie director Ruben Alves, who directed the music album "The voices of Fado", a tribute to the great artist Amália.

Amália da Piedade Rodrigues was born in Lisbon on 7th January 1920 and died in Lisbon on 6th June 1999 and is buried among other illustrious Portuguese in the National Pantheon.

She was a fado singer and actress, considered one of Fado's greatest singer, acclaimed all over the world by those who know Fado as "the voice of Portugal", and one of most brilliant singers of the 20th century. She 

The mural pays homage not only to the singer, but also to the cobblestone pavers who are the true artists of Lisbon's basalt and limestone pavements.

O artista ANDRÉ SARAIVA, nascido em Upsala, na Suécia, filho de pais Portugueses, mudou-se ainda jovem para Paris onde ainda vive e trabalha, o artista  conhecido no meio da street art como André, Mr. A ou Monsieur André. É autor de um vasto número de obras que têm vindo a ser reconhecidas e expostas em vários museus e galerias de arte contemporânea do mundo, entre as quais se inclui uma exposição realizada no MUDE, Museu do Design e da Moda, em Belém, Lisboa, em 2014.

The artist ANDRÉ SARAIVA, was born in Upsala, Sweden to Portugese parents, he moved to Paris at a young age, and is known in the artistic circles as André, Mr. A or Monsieur André. He is the author of a vast number of works exhibited in various museums and art galleries around the world, including an exhibition held at MUDE (Museum of Design and Fashion) in Belém, Lisbon, in 2014.

O artista escolheu o Jardim Botto Machado, perto da célebre Feira da Ladra, Campo de Santa Clara, em Lisboa, para receber o mural de azulejos pintados à mão. 

Com uma área total de 1011.1 m2 e 188 metros de comprimento, o extenso mural com 52.738 azulejos, pintados por si com a ajuda duma equipa de artesãos na famosa Fábrica de Cerâmica Viúva Lamego, que resultaram numa composição de peça única.

The artist chose the walls of the Botto Machado garden, near the famous Flea market in Santa Clara, Lisbon, to receive his hand painted tiled mural. Covering an area of 1011 square metres and 188mt in length, this unique mural is made up of 52,738 tiles which he painted with the help of a few artisans, at the famous Viúva Lamego Ceramic factory (Lamego widow ceramic factory).

O desenho é uma reinterpretação da cidade de Lisboa, onde o passado e presente se misturam, tal como algumas referências a Paris  onde o artista vive e trabalha. 

O céu e o Tejo são o pano de fundo, reconhecem-se outros marcos da cidade - o Castelo de S. Jorge, o Padrão dos Descobrimentos, a Ponte 25 de Abril, a Praça de Touros do Campo Pequeno e o Aqueduto das Águas Livres.

The design is a reinterpretation of the city of Lisbon, where past and present are mixed, as well as references to Paris where the artist lives and works.

With the blue sky and the Tagus river in the background are other landmarks like the St Jorge's castle, the Discoveries Monument, the 25th of April bridge, the Campo Pequeno bullfighting ring and the Águas Livres Aqueduct. 

 

MONDAY MURAL - Captain

Neste mural, na empena de um prédio de 4 andares, no Bairro da Torre - o ex-bairro problemático de Cascais há 60 anos mas recuperado pelos maravilhosos 24 murais ali pintados, foi pintado um CAPITÃO DA MARINHA, homenagem às gentes antigas de Cascais, que eram pescadores e varinas (vendedoras de peixe).

          No longínquo ano de 1364, os homens-bons, pediram ao Rei D. Pedro I, que os libertasse da sujeição de SINTRA. 

O pedido foi concedido por D.Pedro I e Cascais elevada a Vila a 7-6-1364.   Este mural foi pintado pelo artista Português Daniel Eime.

This mural, painted on the lateral wall of a 4-storey building, in Bairro da Torre - the former problematic neighbourhood of Cascais for 60 years but recovered by the wonderful 24 murals painted there, a Marine Captain was painted, in homage to the ancient people of Cascais who were fishermen and fish sellers. In the distant year of 1364, the good men asked King D. Pedro I to release them from the subordination of the town of SINTRA. The request was granted by King D. Pedro I and Cascais was raised to Vila in June 1364, when it achieved independence from Sintra.

MONDAY MURAL - Under the sea

 

Este mural tem o nome  "Under the Sea" e foi pintado em Julho 2016 pela artista portuguesa Angela Ferreira, cujo nome artistico é Kruella D'Enfer, nascida em 1988. 

O mural "Under the Sea", está no Bairro da Torre - na linda vila de Cascais, Portugal.

É um bairro onde há sessenta anos - embora com os mesmos edifícios e ruas - as pessoas não se sentiam seguras. Hoje graças aos Murais que ali foram pintados, as pessoas que lá vivem começaram a vê-lo com outros olhos e a usá-lo de outro modo.  E quem lá passa, como eu cada vez que desejo ir a pé fazer compras em um hipermercado que está não muito longe dali, atravesso-o sem hesitação, vendo e revendo com alegria os murais tão atraentes. 

O Mural é digno de Cascais, porque além de Cascais ter uma das mais bonitas baías do mundo, é ali que o mar beija o Rio Tejo, o maior rio de Portugal, (embora nasça em Espanha). Em Cascais fazem-se regatas internacionais desde 1871. 

A partir de 1870, o Rei e a família trouxeram a Corte para veraneio, em Cascais, tendo sido seguidos por pessoas da nobreza e por pessoas muito ricas e famosas.

This mural named "Under the Sea" was painted in July 2016 by the Portuguese artist Angela Ferreira, whose artistic name is Kruella D'Enfer, born in 1988.

The mural "Under the Sea", is in Bairro da Torre - in the beautiful village of Cascais, Portugal.

It is a neighbourhood where sixty years ago - although with the same buildings and streets - people did not feel safe. Today, thanks to the murals that were painted there, the people who live there began to see it with different eyes and to use it in another way. And whoever goes there, like me every time I want to go shopping on foot in a hypermarket that is not far from where I live, I walk through it without hesitation, seeing and reviewing the attractive murals with joy.

The mural is worthy of Cascais, because in addition to Cascais having one of the most beautiful bays in the world, it is there that the sea kisses the Tagus River, the largest river in Portugal, (although it starts in Spain). International regattas have been held in Cascais since 1871.

From 1870, the King and his family brought the Court to spend summer in Cascais, and then the nobility and the rich and famous people followed.

MONDAY MURAL - Love

Hello everyone! 

This mural represents LOVE and says: Where you can't love, don't stay. 
Inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, it was painted by Ana Mesquita.

This mural is on the lateral wall of a building in Cascais, in a suburb called TOWER.  
This place was constructed in the 60's, for the underprivileged. 
The time has changed the way  people look at the suburb, because in the last four years, two or three young men decided to change a lot of bad things.

They started to change the lateral of each building painting murals, after the buildings were freshly painted.

The people, specially the youth of TORRE,  now have two guides to show what has been done. The visitors pay a small fee (€5), to look around 23 paintings, from almost 18 or 19 painters, which offered their work for free, with the exception of paint. 

For some years the municipality introduced gardens, playing fields and associations who provided courses.

Now five years after the murals started being painted, we can say the residents of the TORRE suburb can feel proud of themselves.   

Five years ago,  you could see rubbish in the streets, people smoking "dagga", drugs, etc. now it's changing day by day, and you can find happy and responsible people, not only young people but also older people. They have an association called "WE ARE TORRE" (SOMOS TORRE in Portuguese) and they are very proud of it. And they should really be.  
All the residents of Cascais are very proud of them too.

On Wednesday last week, I went with my pupils from the university where I teach, to visit BAIRRO DA TORRE, (TOWER SUBURB), and we are very, very grateful with everything that we learned with them.

As I'm a teacher, I will go with my pupils to visit this place - Bairro da Torre in Cascais  next week, with a guide.

O mural que tento publicar todas as segundas-feiras, ou no domingo bem tarde esperando que os visitantes da Austrália o possam visualizar às segundas feiras, por ser o dia da publicação dos murais que sigo, de Sami, no blogue: SAMI'S COLOURFULWORLD. 

Este mural foi pintado na fachada de um dos prédios do Bairro da Torre e parece serem 2 companheiros a jogar futebol. Um deles, na pintura, parece ser de raça branca enquanto o outro de raça negra, uma lição contra o racismo. Seria interessante se comentasse, com moderação.

MONDAY MURAL - Cascais

UM LUGAR LINDO - CASCAIS. 

Neste mural, pintado no muro de um prédio na baixa de CASCAIS, regista-se o MUSEU CASTRO GUIMARÃES, vendo-se o FAROL DE SANTA MARTA, pintado às riscas azuis para condizer com o mar, que está ali ao lado, como é normal e terá de ser, com todos os faróis.  

Em tempo de maré cheia, nota-se que a água do mar, vinda da linda Baía de Cascais, provavelmente das mais lindas baías do mundo, do lado da Marina vai por baixo de uma linda ponte "beijar" os pés ao MUSEU. 


I don't know the artist for this mural. It is painted in Cascais, Portugal, a lovely place that has, probably,  one of the nicest bays in the world.

This mural paint represents a Museum Castro GuimarÃes (named after a Count) just in front of the lovely Cascais bay. You can also see also the Santa Marta Lighthouse.

PARABÉNS AOS ARTISTAS. PARABÉNS A QUEM CONSEGUIU LEVAR A EFEITO ESTA BELEZA DE ARTE URBANA. - procure em "Murais" outras páginas neste blogue. Comente de qual gosta mais ao fundo da página. 

"MURAIS" ou "GRAFFITIS" - FORMA DE VANDALISMO OU ARTE URBANA?

Os desenhos “graffitis” começaram a ver-se há anos em Portugal e não foram bem aceites. Os artistas ou pseudo-artistas com marcador ou algumas latas de tinta spray de várias cores,  iam pintando muros privados e até fachadas de prédios, grandes e pequenos, com traços identitários, caligrafias indecifráveis, sem pedir autorização aos proprietários. Logo que possível, os muros ou paredes teriam de ser pintados.

          A lei portuguesa, se fosse apresentada queixa – teria evidentemente de se provar quem foi o “graffiti-pessoa” que se poderia punir.

          Esta forma de expressão, que deveria ser uma forma de comunicação com os outros e só não o era por falta da tal autorização referida, era geralmente realizada por jovens.

Hoje parece haver uma técnica diferente. Introdução de mais cor e de mais técnica, novos estilos, tendo resultado, na maioria dos casos, em pinturas interessantes.  

Não posso afiançar se pedem ou não para pintar os locais onde estão, mas, pelas alturas de algumas fachadas laterais dos prédios, acredito que haja um entendimento entre o condomínio e o autor da pintura que, como se pode depreender, é já um artista. E aos desenhos, conforme os que publicarei hoje e irei publicando, chamam-se “MURAIS” e, salvo melhor opinião, esta palavra não faz ainda parte dos dicionários que tenham alguns anos.

Li na internet, que quem faz estes murais é um “escritor”. Claro que não posso aceitar. Escritor, segundo os dicionários, em qualquer língua, é um autor de obra literária ou científica. Ora murais, não é livro nem ciência. É ARTE.  Arte é criação própria de cada pessoa que é capaz de a exprimir. É uma manifestação de criatividade.

Quem faz "murais", por melhor que os faça, e ainda bem que temos hoje imensas pessoas a fazer belos murais, são realmente “ARTISTAS”, porque desenham com arte. Artistas são precisamente os que cultivam as belas artes, os que exercem uma arte (até pode ser um ferreiro ou um joalheiro), os amantes da arte.

Talvez sejamos agora mais tolerantes com os artistas “graffitis” ou na realidade eles progrediram nos seus métodos de trabalho? Não tenho foto de desenhos de “graffitis” de há alguns anos, mas tenho alguns atuais. 

Se eu soubesse quem são os autores, poderia atribuir-lhes um diploma, pela sua perfeição. Eles merecem. 

Passei pelo Bairro da Torre em Cascais e pude ver a diferença de prédios que estavam a precisar de pintura e, pelos MURAIS que lhe foram ultimamente adicionados, ficaram orgulhosamente irreconhecíveis, de tanta beleza que até esquecemos como estavam.

Estou fazendo diligências para saber onde posso encontrá-los. (autor ou autores).
