Mural by Jacqueline de Montaigne.
MURALS ON BUILDINGS OF BAIRRO DA TORRE, IN CASCAIS: As if painting on canvas, Jacqueline de Montaigne made an artistic mural in one of the sides of a building in Bairro da Torre, that problematic neighborhood of the sixties (say those who know) and today, thanks to the effort of young people full of will and energ , became a neighborhood equal to all neighborhoods in Cascais. The strength that motivated change came from the union of young people. The murals were all well chosen by the artists and, for the history of the neighborhood, many of the faces on the murals are of people who live there. The young people who are part of the "SOMOS CASCAIS" Group are to be congratulated. These murals, totaling 23, are visited by lots of people, and guided visits can be requested from a young man from the group. Jacqueline is a young painter born in 1980 and resident in Lisbon. She has participated in solo exhibitions from the age of 14 and at the age of 19, received an invitation for a short internship in London at the studio of the great Portuguese artist, (who in Cascais has a Museum with her name) PAULA REGO. Jacqueline's murals spread quickly across Portugal and invitations have quickly arrived from Spain, Brazil and the USA in 2019. Jacqueline Montaigne will be curator of public art interventions in 2019-2020 calling attention to women's mental health and women's rights.
