Mural - The 5 F's of Guarda

This mural of a woman painted in a small derelict house, by Spanish artist SFIH (Hugo Lomas) in the Portuguese city of Guarda. 

The words over the mural describe the city of Guarda : Farta, Forte, Fria, Fiel, Formosa - which mean Bountiful, Strong, Cold, Faithful and Beautiful.

Bountiful - due to the riches of the Mondego River.

Strong - the castle, the city walls and the geographic position of the city.

Cold - it's the highest city in Portugal, close to Serra da Estrela (Star Mountain, the highest in Portugal), make it the coldest city in Portugal.

Faithful - Álvaro Gil Cabral (Mayor of Castelo da Guarda) refused to hand over the keys to the city to the King of Castela during the crisis of 1383-85

Beautiful - it's natural beauty make it a beautiful city. It's Cathedral is worth a visit and if you climb the tower you get an extraordinary view over the city.

Olá! Hoje, vamos publicar "Um mural cada segunda feira". Vou tentar publicar um que agrade a todos.

Este é de uma mulher pintada numa pequena e pobre casa  - talvez para tapar as suas mazelas. A pintura pelo artista Espanhol SFHIR (Hugo Lomas) na cidade da Guarda, que é conhecida por ser a cidade que se descreve com 5 F's. : FARTA, FORTE, FRIA, FIEL, FORMOSA.

Farta: Devido à riqueza do vale do Rio Mondego; (este nasce perto, na Serra da Estrela);

Forte: a torre do castelo, as muralhas e a posição geográfica demonstram a sua força;

Fria: é a cidade mais fria de Portugal, pela proximidade à Serra da Estrela e o facto de estar situada a uma grande altitude explicam este F;

Fiel: porque Álvaro Gil Cabral – Alcaide-Mor do Castelo da Guarda e trisavô de Pedro Álvares Cabral – recusou entregar as chaves da cidade ao Rei de Castela durante a crise de 1383-85. Álvaro Gil Cabral, trisavô de meu ascendente PEDRO ÁLVARES CABRAL, teve ainda fôlego para combater na Batalha de Aljubarrota e tomar assento nas Cortes de 1385 onde elegeu o Mestre de Avis (D. João I) como Rei;

Formosa: pela sua beleza natural. É realmente bela a cidade da GUARDA. A sua Sé deve ser visitada. Visitando a torre, pode dali visionar-se uma beleza extraordinária.
